October 11, 2005 - Tilson named Fellow of ASLA

Mr. Robert B. Tilson was inducted into the Council Fellows by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) during the Society’s Annual Meeting in Fort Lauderdale , Florida , on Saturday, October 8, 2005. Being awarded the status of Fellow is a designation that acknowledges extraordinary work, leadership, knowledge, and service to the landscape architecture profession over a sustained period of time. It is one of the highest honors ASLA may confer upon a landscape architect. Only 937 landscape architects have been elected to the Council of Fellows since 1899.

Fellows are nominated in one of four categories: works of landscape architecture; administrative work; knowledge; and service to the profession. Mr. Tilson was nominated by the local Potomac Chapter of ASLA for his service to the profession. “To be recognized by my peers based on the work I have accomplished is one of the greatest rewards a person can receive”, stated Mr. Tilson, FASLA, President of the Tilson Group, a national award winning landscape architecture and construction company. “I will cherish and honor this award in remembrance of all of the individuals and organizations who assisted me in achieving this distinction.”

Mr. Tilson has provided consistent and continuous service to ASLA and the profession as a two-term chapter president, a two-term trustee, current ASLA vice president of information and practice, and as a businessman and entrepreneur. For over 17 years, he has served as a mentoring leader for other professionals around the United States and here locally in the Washington Metropolitan area.
